Getaway to the Dune du Pilat & Bordeaux

Before returning to Lyon , we made a short stop at the Dune du Pilat and a short visit to Bordeaux on Saturday, after leaving the heavy heart of  our peaceful corner in the Landes .

The city has a chic look, its golden white stones and its architecture give it a bourgeois atmosphere. Its pedestrian town center, its narrow cobbled streets and its many squares really charmed me without counting all the small shops, cafes, restaurants, …

The buildings do not exceed 4/5 floors, the town is clean, the city center is pedestrian, it’s very nice to walk around. It does not feel like being smothered by the city because there are few nuisances (pollution, traffic, …).

Unfortunately the weather was not with us … At the Dune du Pilat or Pyla (I know not too much I see the 2 spellings) it was all gray, there was wind and a small drizzle. It is a pity because we could not have a nice clear view nor stay too long to be able to walk.
In the afternoon in Bordeaux it was raining but the sky was all gray, so the few pictures we took are not very sales …

It is also the only dune still in motion. Between the ocean and the forest, located at the entrance to the Arcachon basin, it moves from 1 to 5 m per year to the east under the influence of prevailing winds and tides. The forest of the Teste-de-Buch is engulfed little by little.
